Shower With Love: a coworker baby shower

Submitted by loralee on January 18, 2010 – 2:47 pm10 Comments

If you have been blog stalking me (like I dream EVERY night you are), you know that I threw a baby shower for my husband’s coworker last week! After a little bit of drama and a small trip to Costco (you can read about it here), everything came together. Here are some of the details. Above are the invitations (which by the way the photos do NOT do justice). They were so easy. I bought self-printable invitations from Target and then just customized them using many different fonts. Very inexpensive for invitations and (I like to believe) very fabulous. But I’ve shown you those before – so moving on.

IMG_8447aThis baby shower was an exceptionally low-key event. Since it was mostly my husband’s employees attending (male and female) directly after work, I wanted it to be relaxed and easygoing. The theme was Shower with Love.
IMG_8437a copy For the male population that came, I wanted to keep things interesting. So I pulled out the old “Guess That Baby Food” game – the one all us women are long over.
IMG_8435a copy I have to admit, the men were surprisingly creative and unsurprisingly competitive.
IMG_8431a copy I highly endorse this game if you are throwing a coed shower. I generally am not a “game girl” when it comes to showers, but this shower was an exception. I also set out ten dollies that needed bows put in their hair and diapers changed. I explained that being a working mom is like having one hand tied behind your back; you always have one part of you somewhere else. The men then competed to see who could change the dolly’s diaper and put the bow back in her hair using only one hand. It was extremely entertaining for the women to watch.
IMG_8443a copyTaking the labels off of water bottles and tying bows on top was an easy additional detail to the shower.
IMG_8450 copy I am a believer that all showers should have flowers.
IMG_8416 copy Due to my overzealous homemade treat ways, I ended up using my cupcake toppers I made for the creme puffs!

That’s all I have time for now!  Hope you enjoy!

Everything look great! How did you get the labels off of the water bottles? Would love for you to share your templates for the printables. :o )

    Imani,

Thanks for the comment. I took the labels off the water bottles just using scissors. Mine were very easy to take off. If the bottle label was glued on all the way around (mine were only glued in one place) it may be more difficult and you would probably need to use warm water. Just check out the water bottles before you purchase them. Mine were just the generic water bottles from the supermarket. I’ll see what I can do about the printables!

    Thanks again,
    Loralee

Did you design the signs yourself? This all looks fabulous!

  • WOW!! Very cute. Everything looks lovely! Did you have to purchase those water bottles from a particular place, or did you manage to remove the sticker yourself? I was thinking of doing that for a shower once, but the sticker always left a film on the bottle.

    Sonya,

Thank you for your comment. If you can believe it, these water bottles were just the generic version at Walmart! I believe their generic brand says Great Value on it. The tags came off very easily. Try the Big Box!

    Thanks again,

This shower looks fantastic! The lettering on all your signs – from the invitations to the table setting was just wonderful! I love how you put it all together to give it a custom look!

Once again, a wonderful template to follow! Thanks!
